The memory of Vasil Levski - the ideologue and organizer of the Bulgarian liberation movement, will be honored today throughout the country.
The deacon of freedom was captured by the Ottoman Empire on December 27, 1872, and sentenced to death on January 14.
He was hanged on the outskirts of Sofia, and a monument is being erected at the site of his death today. It is there today that the people of Sofia will bow before the memory of the Apostle from 18.00. At 17.00, in the church "St. Sophia" will be celebrated a hierarch's memorial service on the occasion of 142 years since the death of Vasil Levski.
From 10.00 to 18.00 in the National Museum of Military History there will be a special program to commemorate the work of the Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski.
