From June this year, insurers are required to submit data on accidents to their customers to the Guarantee Fund.
Some time ago, the Deputy Chairman of the Financial Supervision Commission Ralitsa Again explained that in order to introduce the bonus-malus practice, it is necessary to collect the data on the caused catastrophes in a unified system. However, this system has only really been built for a few days. And now most companies apply bonus-malus, but only on the basis of their own data. In the near future, the discounts will be able to be applied to the entire insurance market.
For example, if one client now has an overstated amount due to violations, he leaves the company and goes to another, where they have no data on his transgressions. When all companies know that he is not a good leader, they will offer him a higher price.
The changes in the code envisage both increasing the scope of insurance and increasing the maximum amounts that insurers pay as compensation in case of accidents. It is proposed, for example, that from 2016, insurers will pay compensation for damage due to deteriorating health of the driver while driving, damage from scratches and from opening doors while driving, as well as when the car is stopped.
It is also envisaged that for the death on the road or bodily injury the amount of compensation will be raised to BGN 10 million, even for one victim. Now the amount for one injured person is BGN 2 million.
According to the FSC, the price of Civil Liability is formed by a market mechanism and is determined by insurers. The FSC does not have information about the intentions of the insurers to change their tariffs for any insurances.
The direct and indirect losses from catastrophes per year in Bulgaria are nearly 480 million euros. This amount includes medical expenses, expenses for damaged cars and disability payments to the victims. This is shown by data for 2012. For the last 10 years, 100,542 people have been injured on the roads in our country. Of these, 9,852 were killed and 90,690 were injured.
