Fruit and vegetable producers can apply until September 16 for financial assistance to insure their crops, the Agriculture Fund announced.
The aid aims to encourage small and medium-sized fruit and vegetable producers to insure agricultural products against adverse weather conditions. Farmers who are insured against losses caused by hail, torrential rain, flood, storm or shelter are supported.
The fund compensates 80% of the insurance premium, in cases where the insurance covers only losses caused by natural disasters that destroy more than 30% of the average annual production of the producer for the last three years. The co-financing from the fund amounts to 50% of the insurance premium, if the policy states that the insurance covers natural disasters and losses caused by other climatic events.
