A driver who is caught on the road without a compulsory Civil Liability Insurance is at risk not only of receiving a fine, but also of imprisonment for up to 1 year. The amendments to the Road Traffic Act come into force on January 21. The traffic police will now have the right to officially terminate the registration of cars without civil liability insurance.
