The Germans from Mercedes-Benz have started testing the sports version of the AMG GT supercar, which was presented statically at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The brand even released a video showing the "first steps" of the sharpened supercar on the track. The place is naturally the northern arc of the Nürburgring.
The innovation is equipped with a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated eight-cylinder V-engine, the power and torque of which, however, are still kept secret. The previous racing "Silver Arrow" SLS AMG GT3 has a similar unit, the power of which is 550 horsepower.
Intensive testing of the racing Mercedes AMG GT starts now and will continue until the end of the year. In 2016, this car will be included in the FIA Championship, known as the GT3 series. It is known that the European GT3 series has already become one of the most prestigious races in the FIA sports calendar.
Another interesting thing about the racing version of the ANG GT is that the Germans also plan to create a "civilian" version. It will be equipped with a four-liter biturbo V8 engine, which is also mounted on the standard coupe AMG GT. In this case, however, the unit will be boosted to 550 horsepower, 40 more than the standard version.
Thanks to the additionally used composite materials, the mass of the body will be reduced by 80-100 kilograms, and the approximate weight of the car will be about 1,470 kilograms. It is expected that the most extreme civilian version will accelerate to 100 km / h. in 3.6 seconds and will reach a top speed of 310 km / h.
