The new fines, introduced with amendments to the Road Traffic Act, came into force on January 21. They provide for higher penalties for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, speeding and lack of a vignette and civil liability insurance.
SPEEDING FINE IN SETTLEMENTS:
- 10 km / h - a fine of BGN 20;
- from 11 to 20 km / h - a fine of BGN 50;
- from 21 to 30 km / h - a fine of BGN 100 and confiscation of 2 control points;
- from 31 to 40 km / h - a fine of BGN 400 and 6 points;
- over 40 km / h - a fine of BGN 600 and 12 points;
- over 50 km / h - a fine of BGN 700, for each additional 5 km / h exceeding over 50 km / h the fine is increased by BGN 50 and three months without a license and 16 points.
FINE FOR SPEEDING OUTSIDE SETTLEMENTS:
- 10 km / h - a fine of BGN 20;
- from 11 to 20 km / h - a fine of BGN 50;
- from 21 to 30 km / h - a fine of BGN 100, and confiscation of 2 control points;
- from 31 to 40 km / h - a fine of BGN 300 and 6 points;
- from 41 to 50 km / h - a fine of BGN 400 and 12 points;
- over 50 km / h - a fine of BGN 600, for each additional 5 km / h exceeding 50 km / h the fine is increased by BGN 50 and 16 points.
