In connection with the upcoming holidays, instructions have been given to all regional police directorates in the country. Additional police teams will be provided in larger cities to support traffic. Intensified inspections of high-speed driving, after use of alcohol or narcotics, inspection of the obligatory Civil Liability Insurance are forthcoming.
In 2015, in the period December 23-January 3, there were 201 serious road accidents, with 16 fatalities, including one child. The most accidents occurred in Plovdiv.
The movement of trucks on the highways is prohibited on December 23 from 16.00 to 20.00, as well as on December 26 and January 2 from 14.00 to 20.00.
It is recommended to drivers to go on the road with cars prepared for winter conditions, although no snowfall is expected.
