Each of us has heard the phrase

According to popular belief, the holiday is in honor of Vida, sister of the two saints (called "hailstones") Bartholomew and Elisha. Marked to protect against hail. That is why it is accepted that on this day one should not work so as not to anger the hailstorms.

The popular belief that hail comes as retribution for sins has led to the idea that on Vidovden all the evils committed will come to light. Hence the warning: "Every goat for its own foot, but when Vidovden comes, we will see!"

Today the holiday is most actively celebrated in the regions of Godech, Breznik and Trun.
