The insurance market in Central and Eastern Europe in 2016 grew by 1.6%. This is mainly due to the car insurance segment. The amount of gross premiums in the region reached 31.3 billion euros, and the volume of insurance payments also marked a significant increase from 48 percent to 15 billion euros. The most significant is the growth of gross premiums on the Romanian and Hungarian insurance markets. The reason for this is the increased tariffs for motor third party liability insurance.
