Regulatory changes are envisaged to stop cars without catalysts from moving in order to reduce air pollution. Installing a new catalytic converter for your car will cost you between 300 and 1000 levs. Sanctions will also be imposed on the technical inspection points that put such a car into operation.

According to statistics of the Union of Bulgarian Motorists, more than 5 million cars drive on the roads in Bulgaria, of which between 700,000 and 1,000,000 are without a catalyst.

On a new catalytic converter, the life is about 100 - 150 thousand kilometers, but if the car is on gas, the life of the device is reduced to twice. Until now, catalysts have saved car owners about 30-40% of the tax.
