An insurance company from California paid $ 21,000 in compensation out of court to an elderly man in buckets full of coins after he sued the insurer for being attacked by an employee when he tried to buy insurance, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Eight representatives of Rancho Cucamonga-based Adriana's Insurance delivered between 16 and 18 buckets of coins to the lawyer, representing 76-year-old Andres Carasco, who filed a lawsuit against the company in 2012.
His lawyer, Antonio Gallo, told the paper that his client "feels disrespected."
Carasco agreed with the company and expected to receive the compensation by July 25, but the insurer told Gallo that they would not issue a check.
Gallo, who initially thought that paying in coins was a joke, considered it inappropriate for such a company to take such tactics.
The coins were sent to a counting bank.
