New measures are envisaged to stop the war on the roads image

The new measures provide for the introduction of a lower speed limit in urban and first-class roads, as well as more training hours for future drivers. Currently, the limit in a populated area is up to 50 km / h. If the new changes are approved, this speed will be limited to 30 km / h. It remains to be seen whether they will be adopted. Undoubtedly, one of the most dangerous mistakes, causing road accidents, is speeding. According to experts, each kilometer slower speed reduces casualties by 4-5%.

Fines and penalties for speeding, according to ZZDP

In populated areas:

  • To exceed 10 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 20;
  • For exceeding from 11 to 20 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 50;
  • For exceeding from 21 to 30 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 100;
  • For exceeding from 31 to 40 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 400;
  • For exceeding 40 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 600;
  • For exceeding 50 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 700 and three months deprivation of the right to drive a motor vehicle, as for each additional 5 km / h exceeding 50 km / h the fine shall be increased by BGN 50.

Outside populated areas:

  • To exceed 10 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 20;
  • For exceeding from 11 to 20 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 50;
  • For exceeding from 21 to 30 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 100;
  • For exceeding from 31 to 40 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 300;
  • For exceeding from 41 to 50 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 400;
  • For exceeding 50 km / h. - with a fine of BGN 600, and for each additional 5 km / h exceeding 50 km / h the fine shall be increased by BGN 50.
