The 20 leading insurance brokers control 55% of the market image

The twenty largest insurance brokers in Bulgaria control over 55% of the market as of the first half of 2013, according to a report by Insurance.bg. However, only eight of them have exceeded the limit of BGN 10 million in premium income for the first six months of this year. The leaders in this branch are SDI Group and IDG Insurance Brokers, which reported BGN 28.4 million and BGN 26.05 million in premium income, respectively. They are followed by Total Ins - Insurance Broker and UBB - Insurance Broker with BGN 17.6 and 16.3 million, respectively, ahead of AON Bulgaria, General Brokers, Velmar Brokers and Marsh EOOD. The top 10 also includes Broker Ins and Eurolife Bulgaria, which realized a little over BGN 9 million in premium passages for the period January-June. The statistics of the Financial Supervision Commission report that at the end of the first half of the year 385 brokers were active in Bulgaria. However, only 75 of the brokers have a premium income of more than BGN 1 million compared to 73 for the same period a year earlier.
