In 2016, the Guarantee Fund gave nearly BGN 33 million due to accidents caused by drivers without the obligatory Civil Liability Insurance. Of these, BGN 17 million were given for accidents outside the territory of Bulgaria.

820 accidents in Bulgaria, on cars without compulsory insurance, cost the fund over BGN 15 million.

From the beginning of 2017 there are also many cases of accidents abroad in which our drivers did not have compulsory liability insurance.

With the new changes in the law, cars without paid insurance will be deregistered automatically by the Traffic Police. The fine for not concluding a "Civil Liability" dropped from BGN 400 to BGN 250 for an individual, but the registration of the vehicle was terminated ex officio. Registration is also restored automatically.

The guarantee fund sends a list of cars that do not have insurance, and the Ministry of Interior will officially delete these cars.
