Audi has introduced the new generation of its A4 (B9) model family. The car has grown in size, but has lost weight, which - together with the improved drag coefficient - will have a positive impact on both the dynamics and fuel consumption.
The sedan and the A4 station wagon will go on sale in the fall.
The new generation has grown in length by 25 mm (4.73 m) and in width - by 16 mm (up to 1.84 m). The wheelbase has been increased by 12 mm to 2.82 m, which has resulted in more space for passengers, especially in the rear seats.
The new model will be available with a choice between three petrol TFSI and four diesel TDI modifications in power variants from 150 to 272 hp.
The base engine is a 1.4-liter TFSI with 150 hp, followed by a 2-liter TFSI in two versions - 190 hp. and 252 hp.
The small diesel engine is two-liter, and the power options here are also two - 150 hp. and 190 hp. The larger TDI unit is a 3-liter, again in two versions - 218 and 272 hp.
Audi emphasizes that the engine range has improved fuel economy by up to 21%. A4 will also be available in a methane version - with a 2.5-liter engine with 170 hp, whose consumption will be 4 kg per 100 km
The main gearbox is a new, 6-speed manual, but if desired, cars can be equipped with a 7-speed Stronic transmission with dual clutch. For cars with the most powerful diesel engine, an 8-speed tiptronic is provided.
The infotainment system has an 8.3-inch touchscreen and supports voice commands.
Rear passengers can have fun with two 10.1-inch tablets mounted in the headrests of the front seats.
