The annual shareholders' meeting of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is taking place this week, and the company's Maserati brand has delighted its fans with the news that the Alfieri concept model will enter the production phase.
The Alfieri model is named after the most famous of the five brothers who founded the company, and was presented earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show, which marked the 100th anniversary of the brand.
Sales of the Alfieri are expected to begin in 2016, and a convertible version will be released a year later. Some time ago, the model was expected to replace the legendary GranTurismo of the company, but instead Alfieri will be produced together with the current model.
According to Maserati's presentation, all Alfieri models will be equipped with the company's V-6 engine. Rear-wheel drive models will have a 410-horsepower engine, while these 4x4s will be either 450- or 520-horsepower engines.
Interestingly, Maserati announced in the same presentation that it will stop production of the convertible version of the GranTurismo and will present a new model GranTurismo coupe by 2018.
