It is determined by the day on which Easter falls in the current year (it is celebrated seven weeks before Easter).

From ancient times Forgiveness has been among the great symbols of human morality and nobility, because only a person with deep inner peace can sincerely forgive and ask for forgiveness. That is why on this day the church calls the believers to purify their souls, to fill their hearts with peace and love, in order to meet the risen Christ. At Sirni Zagovezni, the younger ones visit older relatives and friends - father-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brothers and sisters, godparents and everywhere the younger ones ask forgiveness and kiss the hand of the hosts by saying the traditional words of forgiveness. … "-" Forgive you, God forgive "is the obligatory answer.

For the last time, dairy food is eaten on the cheese table. Real fasting begins with the offering of halva to brush one's teeth from the bliss. The whole week before Sirnitsa, the so-called Lent Sunday passes under the sign of irresistible vitality and love, swings are tied, people play as if for the last time, because from here onwards fasting, abstinence and humility begin. Through stormy, universal merriment, forgiveness, love and fiery magical rituals, the people celebrate the week after which the great Easter fast begins. Weddings and parties stop, the world and people change. The sun is turning to summer, but it is still far away. The person is adjusting to faith, but also to the hard working season that lies ahead.

Sirnitsa is a holiday that is accompanied by public communication, fun, sharing with all, with the whole community, but sets the limit to the increasingly intimate joys and divisions of love to close the end of the evening in the family circle. The closest people lined up at the table around the tied halva. From the next day, everyone's struggle with himself begins. Communication is getting narrower. The person seeks and overcomes himself both as a prayer and as a confession.

No meat is eaten during the week before Sirnitsa. Eat dairy products, eggs and butter. On the Monday before Sirnitsa, the people with cinnamon and milk and bread let the winds come in the summer and help with the blowing of the wheat. Assumption is performed on Saturday. The people say that on Sirnitsa the heavens and the earth forgive each other. That's why people have to do it. Easter fasting begins with forgiveness. It is the obstacle that everyone must jump over in order to understand and believe in the forgiveness of the cross of Golgotha. We want her from our closest ones - parents and godparents, early in the morning on Sirnitsa. When a man is forgiven, a lemon is brought, and a woman is given an orange. The young people forgave each other with a last kiss, because during the Easter fast the kiss is also considered a sin. Fire rituals are typical. High fires are lit and it is believed that as long as their light reaches there, there will be fertility and there will be no hail. Skip burning straw for health. It is believed that jumping over fire cleanses from fleas, parasites and demons, but also from sins.

Cheese zagovezni

In the evening after the festive table, white halva is tied with string. They used to tie an egg or cheese and grind it. This is the last ritual meal of blissful food. It was believed that even if a person had his teeth on the egg, they would be white and healthy. After the holiday, the egg or cheese is collected and served as a remedy throughout the year. The shells of the eggs eaten on Sirni Zagovezni are thrown on the road to make the hens lay more eggs. The remnants of the blissful table are left for the morning to give birth to colorful lambs.

During Cheese Week, especially on Tuesdays and Fridays, women do not wash, do not pat, do not spread white laundry to avoid hail.

The burning thread on which the halva is tied foretells health and life, fertility and luck of the people in the house, of the crops, of the domestic animals. If the thread is called a girl and a boy and burns quickly, it is believed that the two will get married in the fall.

The table is made of fried eggs, yogurt, leek pie or sauerkraut. Also fish, fishpond, and the dessert is a pie with apples and walnuts, southal, baked apples. Bread is not ritual. The table does not smoke.
