Operation 24 Hour Speed Control will take place on October 29th and 30th across the country. The Ministry of Interior announced that a total and constant control of the speed of motor vehicles on the roads will be carried out within 24 hours.

The operation is part of the measures taken by the Traffic Police to improve the traffic situation in the country and is the first of its kind in Bulgaria. It has been successfully implemented in some leading European countries, including Germany.

Many of the serious road accidents with fatalities and injuries on the road are due to speeding or non-compliance with road conditions, according to an analysis by the General Directorate of Security Police. The situation is similar in the other countries of the European Union.

From October 17 at the e-mail address safetyroads@mvr.bg citizens can submit proposals for places for speed control, reminded by the Ministry of Interior. The information received on the site will be analyzed by the territorial structures of the Traffic Police and such places will be included as control points.
